At Auto Curators we’re great fans of motoring events. Sometimes we attend in our professional capacity. Often we’ll attend as visitors. As we look ahead to the new year, we thought we\’d bring you a round-up of the events we’re most looking forward to in 2020.
Must-do Motoring Events for 2020:
1: Goodwood Festival of Speed:
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is probably the best all-round motoring event in the UK. There’s so much to do. Including a mix of static displays and track action. This event brings motoring fans a blend of innovation, including all the latest cars and technology, and historically interesting exhibits. There’s also loads to see trackside, you won’t get that closer to F1 cars of all eras, at full chat, at any other motoring event. Trust us; we’ve been to a few!
The 2020 Goodwood Festival of Speed takes place from 9th – 12th July 2020. Find out more HERE.
2: Goodwood Revival:
This iconic event boasts the highest value starting grid of any race in the world. The chance to see hugely expensive, classic racing cars such as the Ferrari 250GTO, being thrashed around the track without mercy, is mind-blowing. The atmosphere is amazing, with everyone dressed in period costume and enjoying all the other period festivities on offer. Feel like a boogie? Head to the Butlin’s Rock & Roll Ballroom. Need to chill out after the track action? Watch a vintage movie at the Revival Cinema.
The 2020 Goodwood Revival takes place from 11th – 13th September 2020. Find out more HERE.
3: Auto Royale Althorp:
Our list of must-do motoring events wouldn’t be complete without a Concours show. This is a brand new Concours event for 2020. It will be held in the grounds of the ancestral Spencer family home, Althorp Estate. This event aims to raise the bar of European Concours events, to that of Pebble Beach in America.
Much more than a classic car show and much more than a summer party, Auto Royale Althorp brings together Europe’s finest vintage and classic car restorations of the year, and the rarest and most beautiful examples of automotive design and history from around the world.
Auto Royale Althorpe takes place from 17th – 19th July 2020. Find out more HERE.
4: Santa Pod Main Event:
This Northants Drag Racing event is a must-do motoring event. Have you ever seen a car accelerate from standstill to 300mph in 4 seconds, covering just 1/4 of a mile? You need to. The cars are completely unique to the sport. Some have engines producing more than 10,000 horsepower; these have to be seen (and heard!) to be believed. Ear protection definitely recommended for this one.
The Santa Pod Main Event takes place from 22nd – 25th May 2020. Find out more HERE.
5: Isle of Mann TT:
This one is for all you bike enthusiasts. It’s one of the most famous motorcycle events in the world, and arguably the most dangerous and exhilarating. You need to plan ahead for travel arrangements, but if you love bikes, this motoring event should definitely be on your bucket list.

7: Le Mans, 24 Hour:
Finally, grab your passports as we’re heading to France for this spectacular motoring event. A huge circuit and a race that lasts for a whole 24 hours. This motoring event is as much a feat of endurance for the spectators, as it is the drivers. It’s very hot, very noisy, and a hugely popular destination for groups of friends to combine sun, beer, barbecues and motorsport.
